Mumbai mayor Ritu Tawde launches 100-day priority plan, seven initiatives underway

Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde on Sunday unveiled her 100-day priority plan, focusing on enhancing governance, infrastructure, and citizen services, coinciding with International Women's Day 2026.

"The administration is committed to being transparent, proactive, and citizen-centric to meet the expectations of Mumbai residents," Mayor Tawde said.

Among the initiatives already implemented are procurement of municipal supplies through the GeM portal, community-level cleanliness competitions, 100 per cent drain cleaning ahead of the monsoon, the Brimstowad 2 project to tackle waterlogging with IIT Mumbai's expert guidance, formation of urban hawking committees, issuance of QR-coded licenses and ID cards to eligible street vendors, launch of HPV vaccination for 14-year-old girls, construction of entry gates between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, and facilitating the provision of an Asian lion for the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Garden and Zoo from Gujarat.

The 100-day plan comprises 21 key priorities, including completing roadworks with utility corridors, upgrading municipal hospitals and schools to international standards, improving air quality, enhancing street lighting, optimising parking, launching the Mayor Gen Next Internship Program, providing interest-free loans to deserving women, building multiplexes for Marathi films, and ensuring the sustainability of BEST services.
