Mumbai is likely to witness hot and humid weather conditions on Saturday. As per IMD, the island city on Saturday does not expect any chances of rain.

The forecast indicates that Mumbaikars are likely to expect warm and muggy conditions despite the presence of little cloud cover throughout the day.

As per the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to remain close to 29 degrees Celsius.

Monsoon remains stuck over southern Maharashtra

The monsoon's advancement in Maharashtra has remained stalled for several days due to unfavourable atmospheric conditions, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Southwest Monsoon, which entered South Konkan and adjoining parts of South Madhya Maharashtra on June 8, has failed to make significant progress over the rest of the state.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai, the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) currently passes through Harnai, Solapur, Hyderabad, Bhadrachalam, Koraput, Phulbani, Ranchi, Jamui and Muzaffarpur, indicating that although some southern parts of Maharashtra received early monsoon showers, many regions are still waiting for the season's full arrival.

Mumbai air quality remains satisfactory

Even as weather conditions have continued to remain hot and humid for the last few days, Mumbai's air quality continued to stay within the "good" category on Saturday.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) SAMEER application, the city's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 48.

An AQI between 51 and 100 is classified as satisfactory, indicating that air quality is generally acceptable and poses little or no health risk to most residents.

Monitoring stations record stable pollution levels

Air quality readings across various monitoring stations in Mumbai remained largely stable.

Bandra Kurla Complex recorded an AQI of 43, while Byculla reported 62. Chembur registered an AQI of 38, and Kandivali recorded 23. Navi Mumbai and Thane also remained within the satisfactory category with AQI readings of 54 and 62, respectively.

Among the city's cleaner locations, Borivali recorded an AQI of 53, placing it in the "satisfactory" air quality category. CSMIA T2 of 26, while Kherwadi recorded 36, both of which were also close to the 'good' category threshold.
