The Maharashtra government on Wednesday officially revealed the logo for the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027.

The unveiling ceremony took place at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai and was led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, an official statement said.

The logo was selected through a nationwide competition jointly organised by the Kumbh Mela Authority, MyGov
and the Association of Designers of India.

The contest, held between November 20 and December 20, 2025. It attracted 3,067 submissions, including 70 entries from international participants.

A distinguished panel of design experts, including renowned lyricist and advertising professional Prasoon Joshi, selected the winning design.

The Maharashtra CMO also shared a video of the ceremony on X.

Winners awarded cash prizes

Sumit Kate secured the first prize and received Rs 3 lakh for the winning logo design.

Mayank Nayak and Piyush Pimpalnerkar claimed the second and third positions, receiving cash prizes of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively.

Nashik and Trimbakeshwar's spiritual heritage

According to the official statement, the logo incorporates key symbols linked to the religious and cultural identity of Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.

The design features elements such as Lord Shiva's trident, the Trimbakeshwar temple, the arch of the Kalaram temple and the sacred Godavari River, reflecting the spiritual significance of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.

CM Fadnavis promises tech-driven, eco-friendly Kumbh Mela

Meanwhile, last week, CM Fadnavis had said that the Ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik will be the most digitally advanced yet environmentally responsible gathering.

Fadnavis asserted that his government aims to organise the most digitally savvy Kumbh Mela on the banks of the Godavari River with maximum use of technology while rejecting concerns over ecological damage.

He further asserted that the state government wants to leverage technology to manage large crowds efficiently at the Nashik Kumbh Mela despite space constraints as compared to Prayagraj, where the mega religious gathering was organised in 2025 across a sprawling 4,000-hectare area.

The Maharashtra CM had insisted that the administration is working in a coordinated manner to ensure that even if significantly higher footfall is witnessed, devotees will have a seamless and spiritually enriching experience, as per PTI.

"We will assess the carbon footprint after the Kumbh, and I am confident it will be positive, not negative," the CM added.
