The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Maharashtra, in coordination with the Election Commission of India (ECI), has launched a statewide special drive to ensure that all eligible voters are included in the electoral rolls ahead of upcoming electoral processes.
The initiative aims to identify newly eligible voters and those whose names may have been left out of the draft electoral roll. In a press note issued on Thursday, the General Administration Department reiterated the Election Commission's objective: "No eligible voter to be left out of the Electoral Roll."
According to the official statement, the campaign will cover all Assembly constituencies across Maharashtra. The administrative network includes 36 District Election Officers (DEOs), 288 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 7,100 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and 1,00,253 Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The officials will help voters verify their entries, submit applications for inclusion and seek corrections where necessary.
The CEO's office has urged citizens to check their names in the draft electoral roll and submit claims, applications or objections by October 26. The deadline forms part of the ongoing revision process.
To make the process more accessible, the election authorities will organise special camps at polling station locations across the state on October 17 and 18, followed by October 24 and 25.
Booth Level Officers will be available at these locations to assist voters with checking their details and completing the relevant application forms. The camps are intended to help eligible citizens resolve registration issues before the deadline.
The Maharashtra CEO's office has outlined three forms for different electoral roll requirements.
Form 6 is used by eligible citizens applying for inclusion in the electoral roll. Form 7 is used to raise objections to proposed inclusions or request deletion of a name. Form 8 covers corrections to existing entries, changes of residence, replacement of the Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and requests to record disability status.
The office has clarified that voter enrolment is generally available throughout the year, although claims and objections relating to the current revision must follow the notified schedule.
Voters who need assistance can contact the toll-free Voter Helpline at 1950. Helpdesks are also available during office hours at District Election Officer offices and Electoral Registration Officer offices at the Assembly constituency level.
Further information, including district-wise helpline details, is available on the Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer's website at https://ceoelection.maharashtra.gov.in/ceo/Districtvoterhelpline.aspx," the statement added.
