The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education declared the Std X (SSC) results on Friday, revealing a 92.09 per cent pass rate for regular students. This marks a decline of 2.01 percentage points from last year's 94.10 per cent. Out of 15.42 lakh regular students who appeared, 14.20 lakh cleared the exams.

Girls triumph

Continuing the trend, girls outperformed boys by 5.40 percentage points, securing a 94.96 per cent pass rate against the boys' 89.56 per cent. Additionally, specially-abled students showed remarkable resilience, achieving an impressive 91.22 per cent result.

Konkan leads

The Konkan division maintained its streak as the top performer with a 97.62 per cent pass rate. Kolhapur followed at 95.49 per cent, while Mumbai and Pune secured the third and fourth spots with 94.87 per cent and 94.24 per cent, respectively. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar recorded the lowest result at 88.41 per cent.

Strict vigil

To ensure a "copy-free" environment, the state deployed CCTV surveillance at exam centers and utilized GPS tracking for question paper transport. Over 33,000 school heads received guidelines via SMS, email, and WhatsApp regarding the anti-copying campaign. Additionally, all photocopying centres within 500 meters of centers were ordered to remain closed to prevent malpractice.

Support systems

The board implemented stress-relief measures, including a one-day gap between major papers and a 10-minute grace period. For post-result assistance, ten official helplines are active from 8 am to 8 pm for the next eight days, providing free counseling for students.
