The southwest monsoon has officially withdrawn from Mumbai on Saturday, October 3, 2026, marking the end of the 2026 monsoon season in the city, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed.

Earlier, the IMD said that conditions are favourable for the further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from most parts of Vidarbha. The monsoon is currently weak, with rainfall distribution reported as isolated and very light over the region.

While issuing an official statement on Saturday, October 3, IMD said, "Conditions are likely to become favourable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from most parts of Marathwada, Vidarbha, Bihar & Jharkhand, some more parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh and some parts of Telangana & North Interior Karnataka during next 2-3 days.

Southwest Monsoon withdraws from Mumbai

Confirming the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from Mumbai, Shushma Nair, ‘Scientist E' from IMD on Saturday, said, "Monsoon has withdrawn from some parts of maharashtra including Mumbai today 3rd of October 2026".

No rain forecast in Vidarbha till October 7

The district-wise forecast issued by the IMD states that dry conditions are expected in all 11 Vidarbha districts from Saturday, October 3, to Wednesday, October 7. These include Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Washim.

No forecast of rain in the next five days

The forecast indicates no significant rainfall activity for any of these districts during the five-day period.

The same forecast indicates that dry conditions are expected to continue through October 9 across Vidarbha, with Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Washim all listed as dry.

Despite the withdrawal of the monsoon, the IMD does not expect any major change in maximum temperatures across Vidarbha over the next seven days.

The region was already witnessing above-normal maximum temperatures. In October Amravati recorded Vidarbha's highest maximum temperature at 37.2 degrees Celsius, while Washim recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 19 degrees Celsius.

Hot conditions likely to persist in Mumbai

Mumbai is likely to see mainly clear skies across the city and suburbs on Saturday, October 3, with hot and humid conditions expected in isolated pockets.

The city is likely to record a maximum temperature of around 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius, according to the weather forecast.

Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has forecast a high tide at 4.04 pm, with waves reaching 3.25 metres. A low tide is expected at 10.15 pm, measuring 1.30 metres.

On Sunday, October 4, Mumbai is expected to witness a higher high tide at 5.49 am, with waves reaching 3.59 metres. The day's low tide is forecast at 12.22 pm, measuring 2.28 metres.
