A major traffic jam was reported on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Monday morning, raising fresh concerns over persistent congestion issues despite the ongoing Missing Link project on the route.
Long queues of vehicles were seen near the Kamshet tunnel area, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. Traffic movement along the tunnel stretch remained extremely slow, leaving several motorists stranded for long periods.
According to officials, the traffic disruption was triggered after a truck got stuck beneath the Baur bridge. The vehicle, reportedly carrying an over-height load, became wedged while attempting to pass under the low-clearance bridge, resulting in a massive traffic backlog on the expressway.
Police personnel rushed to the spot, and efforts were underway to remove the stranded truck and restore smooth vehicular movement. However, heavy traffic volume on the first working day of the week further complicated the clearance operations.
The incident led to severe slowing of traffic on the Mumbai-Pune route. Authorities have appealed to commuters to travel cautiously and expect delays while passing through the affected stretch.
