Five years after mid-day's crime investigations editor Jyotirmoy Dey was gunned down by henchmen of underworld don Chhota Rajan, a square in Powai's Hiranandani Gardens will be named in his honour. On June 11, 2011, four bike-borne assailants had pumped bullets into the journalist at a busy junction in Powai.

Mumbai Press Club, local residents and Hiranandani Builders, in association with the BMC will install a plague in honour of the veteran journalist. The function will be held at 11.30 am on July 13.

"Mayor Snehal Ambekar will unveil a plaque in honour of our dear colleague J Dey," said Mumbai Press Club chief Gurbir Singh.
