Confirming the news, Harshal Pradhan, spokesperson of the Shiv Sena said, "All the test reports are clean but doctor has prescribed him to take rest. It was a regular health check-up that was suggested to him after his surgery."

The state health department issued a notice on Wednesday morning that Thackeray would be discharged on Wednesday late afternoon.

The check-up was in follow-up to the angioplasty procedures that he underwent in 2012. While the first procedure was in July 2012, the second one was in November, the same year.

Tests had revealed multi-vessel blockages in his heart, after which the doctors had recommended two angioplasty surgeries.
