Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) activist Vivek Tiwari's âSadak Satyagraha' hunger strike over poor road conditions and inadequate infrastructure in Maharashtra's Palghar district continued for nearly a week on Thursday.
The agitation, focused on deteriorating roads and infrastructure in the Vasai-Virar region, entered its sixth day on Thursday.
According to PTI, Tiwari launched the hunger strike to highlight what he described as poor road conditions and inadequate infrastructure in the area on the outskirts of Mumbai.
On the sixth day of the protest, a CJP delegation visited the site to express solidarity with Tiwari and assess the worsening health of the protesters.
The delegation's visit came as the hunger strike continued over the infrastructure concerns raised by Tiwari.
The protest has also received backing from local political leaders. Moreover, the Congress leaders and representatives of other political parties have extended their support to the agitation, indicating that concerns over infrastructure are finding resonance beyond the CJP.
The growing political support has added momentum to Tiwari's campaign as the hunger strike continues.
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Wednesday inspected the Mumbai Public School at Colaba Market LP Marathi school as part of its âSchool Theek Karo' campaign, highlighting concerns over classroom strength, infrastructure and basic facilities.
The inspection was led by CJP National Coordinator Akshay Shinde and is the first school inspection by the party's national leadership in Mumbai. Volunteers have earlier inspected schools in the western suburbs.
The âSchool Theek Karo' campaign is a nationwide civic reform initiative launched on August 15. We are visiting schools across the country, and the campaign has been launched in several states including Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and across Maharashtra cities.
This particular school in Colaba was chosen to launch the campaign in Mumbai. We were also alerted to malpractices in this school. We will visit all BMC schools henceforth to draw the authorities' attention to the dire state of school education.
