The thieves entered through a large hole on the ceiling of the Anjuman Nooral Islam High School's computer laboratory and took away the expensive desktop screens. A trustee of the Saki Naka-based school, who discovered the theft, admitted the educational institute did not have a watchman

Hundreds of students of the Anjuman Nooral Islam High School in Saki Naka will not be able to work on computers for at least a few days once school reopens after Diwali. The reason? Burglars broke into their school computer lab late on Friday night and took away at least 11 LCD screens.u00a0According to the police, the accused could have sneaked inside the laboratory by sawing or cutting a large square slab off the roof of the room. The incident took place sometime late on Friday when the school was unguarded. The school management had allegedly sacked the watchman recently.

According to the cops the burglars entered the laboratory by cutting a large square slab off the roof of the room

The incident came to light after Sayed Azhar, a trustee of the school, arrived at the premises around 8 am on Saturday and discovered the hole in the ceiling and the ransacked computer room.

According to Azhar, this is not the first instance of a robbery or a theft in the locality in recent weeks. In October, a school not too far from Anjuman, also reported a similar case of burglary.

" I just happened to come to school on Saturday for some work and was shocked to find out about the burglary. I immediately called up other school officials and asked them to come to the school," Azhar told the media. Later in the day, several school officials went to the police station and filed a complaint about the burglary with the Saki Naka police station.

Asked why the school did not have a single night watchman, another trustee said, " Our previous watchman was sacked because he was an alcoholic and would report to work in a drunken state. We had advertised for a new watchman and will hire one in the next few days." When contacted, Senior Police Inspector PY More from Saki Naka police station said, " We are interrogating the matter."
