A month-long dispute over access to Bandra Bandstand appears to have finally been resolved, with pet owners now free to walk their dogs along the promenade without any objections. Shiraz Ahmed, founder of Humanity World Foundation, told this diarist, "After five months of being constantly told not to bring my dog, Laila here, all pets can now freely walk on the promenade. A promenade is a public space, and everyone should be allowed to enjoy it."
India's heat crisis is getting worse every year, but while rising temperatures often make headlines, the people who are most affected by it are rarely discussed. How difficult is it for daily wage workers who spend hours outdoors in the sun, or for women who work in hot kitchens throughout the day without access to air conditioning?
Mahi G films the video in Sunder Nagri, in New Delhi
Madhura Ghane, better known as Mahi G, a rapper from Kalyan, has teamed up with Greenpeace Foundation for her upcoming song, Heatwaves Rising. The track has been produced and directed with contributions from Ajit Shelke aka Rapboss, and N Vaibhav. Scheduled for release later this week, the song highlights the impact of extreme heat on residents of Sunder Nagri, a densely populated working-class resettlement colony in North East Delhi.
"The song talks about voices that are often not heard or prioritised, with a special focus on women. It also explores temperature fluctuations and the impact of El Niño, alongside the growing number of heatstroke cases," added Ghane. The song reflects on a world where the Earth is crying out for help while leaders remain focused on conflict and missiles. The song reflects on a world where the Earth is crying out for help while leaders remain focused on conflict and missiles.

Bandra's retro music community gets another space to hang out. High Note is a new music-first bar inspired by the sounds from the 1960s till the 1990s. The venue combines vintage aesthetics, high-fidelity sound and community-driven hospitality. "For me, this is about reclaiming a space Bandra once had - where people would gather around records and stories," said founder Shreyas Rathod.
Gracian de Souza
The food menu by chef Gracian de Souza features shareable plates and comfort-driven flavours. "We wanted to create a home for music, not a theme bar. Every element in the food and the way a table is arranged supports the music and the people who love it," said de Souza. The 80-seater venue opens on June 19 at Hill Road, Bandra West.
