Aesthetically located within the Navsari building off DN Road, Tarq Gallery resembled a new-age laboratory last Thursday, where ideas were discussed and creative juices overflowed.

Aspiring architects, students and distinguished members of Mumbai's architecture and design communities graced the venue for the release of The State of Architecture-Practices and Processes in India: A Research Framework edited by Kaiwan Mehta, Ranjit Hoskote and Rahul Mehrotra. With all three editors present, the conversation, moderated by Nancy Adajania, veered from a range of topics centred on architecture in context with today's times and how young talent ought to carry the mantle forward.

The second half of the evening was dedicated to the Charles Correa Foundation Gold Medal. Before she could settle down for a conversation with jurors Rahul Gore and Quaid Doongerwala Charles Correa's daughter, Nondita Correa Malhotra, shared anecdotes about her illustrious father, including his role in promoting young talent, given that this was the 29th year of initiating this medal, including the fact that he had designed the medal.

Gore and Doongerwala were pleased not just with the flood of theses entries from India's architecture schools but also that new topics emerged including caste, gender and marginalised communities.

Abi Sampa and Rushil Ranjan
After collaborating with AR Rahman for his landmark Royal Albert Hall debut earlier this year, artistes Rushil Ranjan and Abi Sampa have another surprise up their sleeves. After a six-year wait, the duo is ready to bring their internationally acclaimed Orchestral Qawwali Project (OQP) to Mumbai on December 13.

We learned that the cross-cultural performance presented at a Sahar venue, as part of a new IP Ruhbaru by Cultural (Mis)fits and BAE, will sit at the nexus of South Asian and Western music cultures. Suffice to say, Irshad!
Laddu. PIC COURTESY/ADITYA NATARAJAN
This festive season, we're on the lookout for Laddu. The friendly indie from Worli Sea Face, of course. The popular âmarathon dog' who loves accompanying runners and festive processions, went missing on October 17. "After a similar incident last year, we geo-tagged Laddu. He was last tracked near Mahalaxmi Temple during Durga Visarjan, before his geotag glitched. His current location is a radius from Grant Road to Byculla," shared caretaker Aditya Natarajan. While God seems to be on Laddu's side, you can play your part by reporting any sighting to 9820613540.
