Elderly cancer patient who was left to die in Mumbai's Aarey by her family, passes away in Bhayandar Ashram

The 70-year-old cancer patient, Yeshoda Gaikwad, who was allegedly abandoned by her own family members in the Aarey Colony in Mumbai to die, has passed away.

According to police sources, Yeshoda was earlier undergoing treatment at Dr Cooper Hospital. After being discharged, she stayed for a few days with her grandchildren. However, as her condition required continuous medical care, she was later admitted to an ashram located on Uttan Road, Bhayandar (West), with the help of an NGO.

Aarey police sources revealed that on September 21, Yeshoda Gaikwad died at the ashram. The ashram authorities informed her family about her demise. While her grandson was reportedly in the village at the time, his wife, who was in Mumbai, went to the ashram. With the family's consent, the ashram conducted Yeshoda's last rites at a nearby crematorium.
