Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde congratulated Assam Chief Minister-designate Himanta Biswa Sarma after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a third consecutive term in Assam, describing the mandate as a clear endorsement of development-focused governance.

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony in Guwahati on Tuesday, Shinde said the people of Assam had voted in favour of continued progress and stability under the NDA government.

In a video message, the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister thanked the people of Assam for supporting the ruling alliance and extended his best wishes to Sarma and his team as they prepare to begin another term in office.

Shinde said the NDA government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would continue to push development initiatives in the state through coordinated governance between the Centre and the state administration.

He added that the "double-engine government" model would help accelerate infrastructure growth, welfare schemes and economic development in Assam over the coming years.

NDA leaders celebrate victory across states

Several NDA leaders from different states also welcomed the alliance's victory in Assam and expressed confidence about the state's future under the BJP-led coalition.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha described the political atmosphere across the country as energetic and positive following successive NDA victories in various states.

He said the BJP's electoral success reflected public confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and called the Assam result a moment of pride for party workers and supporters across the Northeast.

Meanwhile, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president and Bokakhat MLA-elect Atul Bora said the strong mandate received by the NDA demonstrated the trust placed by the people of Assam in the alliance.

Bora expressed confidence that the next five years would play a crucial role in the state's development and claimed Assam was entering a new phase of growth and transformation.

Senior BJP leaders to attend oath-taking ceremony

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also congratulated the people of Assam on the formation of the NDA government for a third straight term.

He said the party's continued victories in different states highlighted growing public support for the BJP and its allies.

BJP leader and Duliajan MLA-elect Rameswar Teli said the upcoming swearing-in ceremony would be a significant moment in his political journey. Teli thanked voters for their support and said he was committed to continuing work for the party and the state.

The swearing-in ceremony of the new Assam government is scheduled to take place in Guwahati on May 12. Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, senior Union ministers, and chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from several NDA-ruled states are expected to attend the event.

NDA secures dominant victory in Assam Assembly polls

The BJP-led NDA registered a decisive victory in the 126-member Assam Assembly, winning 102 seats in total.

The BJP emerged as the single largest party with 82 seats, while alliance partners AGP and the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) secured 10 seats each.

The Congress-led opposition alliance managed to win 19 seats. Raijor Dal and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) won two seats each, while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) secured one seat. The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) failed to win any seat in the election.
