Fire engulfs scrap godown and neighbouring shops in Mumbai’s Borivali; no injuries reported

A Level-2 fire broke out on Friday evening at a scrap godown located in a slum area of Ganpat Patil Nagar, IC Colony, Borivali West, Mumbai. The incident was reported to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) at 5.29 pm and was upgraded to Level-2 at 5.37 pm.

The blaze started in the scrap dealer's shop and spread to around four neighbouring shops, completely gutting three of them. The fire consumed electric wiring, electric installations, wooden furniture, wooden goods, eatables, stock of spices, coal, bundles of clothes, and scrap materials, covering an area of approximately 500 x 150 sq. ft across 8-10 galas.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire by 8.40 pm, bringing it fully under control. Officials continue to monitor the area to prevent any flare-ups, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries have been reported in the incident.
