In its weekly forecast the authority has announced that Saturday and Sunday will be seeing a yellow alert with Saturday seeing thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds between 30 to 40 kmph.
The India Meteorological Department's Regional Meteorological Centre Mumbai has forecast an active monsoon spell over the city and its suburbs over the next 48 hours. Sunday may bring thunderstorms accompanied with lighting, heavy rainfall and gusty winds between 40 to 50 kmph.
September 14, 15, and 16 will see moderate and light to moderate rain.
RMC Mumbai has also warned of the possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated locations, accompanied by gusty winds reaching 60-70 kmph. This could lead to water logging and traffic jams in some areas.
The maximum temperature is likely to be around 33°C over the next 48 hours, going down slightly to 31°C thereafter, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain 26°C.
