The long-awaited burn care ward at KEM Hospital was inaugurated on Saturday. The medically advanced ward will bring much-needed relief as the city will no longer have to rely on the National Burns Hospital in Airoli to treat burn victims. The ward has nine regular beds and three ICU beds, along with a separate bathing area, which is a must for the treatment of burn victims. It also has a separate pantry to cook protein-rich food for the patients. The ward was inaugurated by donor Shailesh Limdi, who provided Rs 2.5 crore for its establishment, as well as hospital dean Dr Sangeeta Rawat and head of plastic surgery department, Dr Vinita Puri.
