Western Railway (WR) on Friday, May 1, announced a major 10-hour night block on its suburban network on the intervening night of Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3 for undertaking the work of launching steel girders for Mumbai Metro Line-6 between Ram Mandir and Jogeshwari stations.

The block on the 6th line will be in effect from 9.30 pm on Saturday to 7.30 am on Sunday. Additionally, a separate block will be taken on the UP Fast line and the 5th line between 1 am and 4 am.

During the block period, all the trains normally operating on the 6th line will be diverted to the UP Fast line between Borivali and Andheri railway stations. However, some UP and DOWN suburban services will remain cancelled.

Railway authorities stated that detailed information regarding the affected services is available at all suburban stations, and announcements will also be made for passenger convenience.

In addition to suburban disruptions, Train No 19038 Avadh Express will be regulated by approximately 30 minutes between Surat and Borivali due to the block.

WR has appealed to passengers to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with the railway authorities during the block period.

WR to dismantle staircase at Bhayandar railway station

WR on Thursday began dismantling the staircase of the second north foot overbridge (FOB) at Platform No 6 of Bhayandar railway station as part of ongoing station improvement work.

According to officials, the removal of the staircase is necessary to facilitate the construction of a new elevated deck at the station. The project forms part of broader efforts to upgrade infrastructure and improve passenger movement within the station premises.

The dismantling work has been initiated with immediate effect.

In light of the change, commuters have been advised to use the skywalk that connects the two north FOBs over Platform No 5. Railway authorities said the alternate route has been kept operational to ensure passenger movement is not severely disrupted during the work.

WR acknowledged that the ongoing work may cause inconvenience to passengers using Platform No 6. Officials stated that the changes are temporary and necessary to complete the infrastructure upgrade.

The railway administration has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and has urged commuters to cooperate during the construction period.
