Central Railway, while sharing Mumbai local train updates, on Friday said that a special midnight block on the Main Line and a mega block on the Harbour Line this weekend to carry out essential engineering and maintenance work aimed at improving safety and infrastructure.
An official statement said that the blocks will affect suburban train services on June 6-7, and passengers have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
A special midnight block will be operated between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Vidyavihar stations on the Up and Down slow lines from 12.05 am to 5.05 am on the night of June 6-7.
During the block period, Down slow line services departing CSMT between 11.30 pm on June 6 and 4.47 am on June 7 will be diverted to the Down fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar, halting at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla stations.
Similarly, Up slow line services departing Ghatkopar between 11.29 pm and 5.04 am will be diverted via the Up fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT, with halts at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel and Byculla.
According to Central Railway, the last Down local before the block will be the CSMT-Titwala service departing at 11.16 pm on June 6.
The first Down local after the block will be the CSMT-Kasara service departing at 5.07 am on June 7.
The last Up local before the block will be the Titwala-CSMT train departing Kalyan at 10.22 pm on June 6, while the first Up local after the block will leave Kalyan at 4.12 am on June 7.
A five-hour mega block will be carried out on the Harbour Line between CSMT and Chunabhatti/Bandra on Sunday, June 7.
The Down Harbour Line between CSMT and Chunabhatti/Bandra will remain blocked from 11.40 am to 4.40 pm, while the Up Harbour Line between Chunabhatti/Bandra and CSMT will be blocked from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm.
During the block period, Harbour Line services to Vashi, Belapur and Panvel departing CSMT between 11.16 am and 4.47 pm will remain suspended.
Services to Bandra and Goregaon departing CSMT between 10.48 am and 4.43 pm will also be cancelled.
Similarly, Up services towards CSMT from Panvel, Belapur and Vashi, as well as trains from Goregaon and Bandra, will remain suspended during the maintenance period.
To minimise inconvenience to commuters, Central Railway will operate special train services between Panvel and Kurla (Platform No. 8) at a frequency of 20 minutes throughout the block period.
Passengers travelling on the Harbour Line will also be allowed to use Main Line and Western Railway services between 10 am and 6 pm during the block.
Central Railway said the maintenance blocks are necessary for infrastructure upkeep and operational safety.
Railway authorities have appealed to passengers to cooperate and bear with the temporary inconvenience caused due to the essential maintenance work.
