A RTI query by a Mumbai-based NGO reveals alarming increase in dengue deaths between 2011 to 2015. According to a report in The Indian Express, the data obtained by NGO Praja Foundation showed 62 deaths reported due to dengue or suspected dengue infection in 2011-2012. This touched 124 in 2015-2016.
This was in sharp contrast with BMC's claim of only 12 deaths in 2015 due to dengue. 126 people across Maharashtra are believed to have succumbed to dengue.
