A high-end luxury Porsche crashed into a road divider on Mumbai's Coastal Road at around 8 am on Sunday, July 18 before veering into the adjacent lane and colliding with an Ertiga, according to eyewitnesses. Despite the severity of the crash, no injuries were reported.

The black Porsche, which was allegedly being driven at high speed, is believed to have lost control on the rain-soaked road following overnight and early morning showers. Witnesses said the impact with the divider was so severe that the car jumped into the next lane, where it struck an Ertiga travelling in the opposite lane.

Speaking to Mid-Day, Ravi Gupta, Field Incharge at TAP Turbo Engineers Private Limited, said rash driving is a common sight on the Coastal Road, particularly during weekends.

He said, "We often see rash driving on the Coastal Road during the weekends. This time, the road was wet due to the rain last night and early morning today."

Speaking further about the recovery and getting the traffic situation on the coastal road back to normal, he added, "Currently, work on removing the car from the spot is ongoing, and we are cooperating with the police on the matter."

Emergency response teams reached the accident site within around eight minutes and immediately began rescue and recovery operations. The two occupants of the Porsche were safely evacuated from the vehicle and did not sustain any apparent injuries.

According to officials, there were two occupants inside the Porsche at the time of the crash. Both were safely evacuated from the vehicle and, fortunately, did not suffer any apparent injuries.

The accident temporarily affected traffic movement on the stretch as recovery operations were carried out. Police reached the scene and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.

Traffic restored

The damaged Porsche was subsequently removed from the roadway, and all debris was cleared from the accident site. Traffic movement on the Coastal Road has returned to normal, with no congestion reported following the completion of recovery operations.
