Passenger ferry services between Mumbai's Bhaucha Dhakka, also known as Ferry Wharf, and Revas in Raigad district will resume from October 1 after a four-month monsoon suspension, officials said on Wednesday.
The service was halted during the monsoon due to weather and sea conditions. The Mumbai Jal Vahatuk Sanstha has now announced its resumption as conditions have become suitable for ferry operations.
The first ferry from Bhaucha Dhakka will depart at 6:30 am, with subsequent services scheduled at 8 am, 10 am, noon, 2 pm and 4 pm.
An additional ferry service will operate at 5 pm on weekends, providing passengers with another option for travel between Mumbai and Revas.
The fare for passengers travelling on the Mumbai-Revas route has been fixed at Rs 100.
Although services are scheduled to resume from October 1, ferry timings could be changed if weather conditions deteriorate, the Mumbai Jal Vahatuk Sanstha said.
The Mumbai-Revas route operates across the waters connecting Mumbai with Raigad district and is used by passengers travelling between the two locations. The resumption of services follows the end of the four-month monsoon break.
Officials have indicated that the ferry service will operate according to prevailing sea and weather conditions, with changes to the schedule possible when required.
The suspension of the Mumbai-Revas ferry service during the monsoon is a regular seasonal measure aimed at accounting for challenging weather and sea conditions during the period.
With the service scheduled to restart on October 1, passengers will once again have a direct ferry option between Bhaucha Dhakka and Revas.
The service is expected to be useful for commuters and other passengers travelling between Mumbai and parts of Raigad district, particularly those who use water transport to avoid longer road journeys.
The resumption of the Mumbai-Revas service is also expected to reduce pressure on the Karanja-Revas and Gateway-Mandva ferry services.
The return of another ferry connection could provide passengers with an additional travel option, particularly during periods of higher demand on the existing routes.
