Mumbai Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic restrictions and diversions in parts of Dharavi, Mahim, and Sion on Friday in view of Muharram Tajiya processions.
According to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Dr Dipali Dhate, the traffic arrangements will remain in force from 3 pm to 11.55 pm to ensure smooth movement of processions and maintain public safety.
As part of the restrictions, the Sion-Mahim Link Road will be closed to vehicular traffic between SL Raheja Junction and T-Junction. Vehicles travelling towards Bandra, Mahim, and Sion will be diverted through alternate routes, including Senapati Bapat Marg, Mori Road, LJ Road, TH Kataria Marg, and Mahim Causeway.
St Kabir Marg (60 Feet Road) will also remain closed between Kemkar Junction and Kumbharwada Junction during the procession hours. Motorists travelling towards Sion Hospital, Bandra and Dadar will be required to use designated diversion routes.
Similarly, KK Krishnan Menon Marg (90 Feet Road) will be shut for traffic from Ashok Mill Naka to Kumbharwada Junction. Vehicles will be rerouted via Sant Rohidas Marg, Sion Railway Station, Sion Road No 3, Dr BA Road, and Sulochana Shetty Road.
The restrictions have been imposed under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Traffic police have advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance and use alternate routes to avoid congestion in the affected areas.

Thane Traffic Police announced a series of traffic restrictions, route diversions, and no-parking regulations in Bhiwandi city on Friday to facilitate the Muharram procession and ensure smooth movement of traffic.
According to the traffic advisory issued by the Thane Traffic Police, a large number of participants are expected to take part in the Muharram (Tazia) procession within the Bhiwandi Traffic Sub-Division limits. The restrictions have been imposed to prevent traffic congestion and maintain public convenience during the event.
The traffic control measures will come into effect from 1 pm on Friday and will remain in force until the conclusion of the procession.
The police said that all heavy, medium and light vehicles, including cars, autorickshaws, and two-wheelers entering Bhiwandi city from Ranjanoli Naka, will not be permitted to enter the city during the restriction period.
