Central Railway will conduct an intensive ticket checking drive across its network from October 1 to October 31, 2026, with a special focus on verifying the genuineness and authenticity of passenger tickets.

According to an official statement, the month-long drive will particularly target tickets booked under concessional fares, specified reservation quotas and various railway passes, besides routine checking at stations and on trains.

During the drive, ticket checking staff will verify whether passengers travelling on concession or under specified reservation quotas are carrying the prescribed original identity and eligibility documents, officials said.

For tickets booked for multiple passengers, at least one passenger listed on the ticket must carry the prescribed original identity proof.

If the required original proof is not produced, all passengers travelling on that ticket may be treated as travelling without a valid ticket, as per applicable railway rules, they said.

Checks also on concessions and railway passes

Passengers travelling under specified concessions or reservation quotas will also be required to produce the prescribed original documents establishing their eligibility, the statement said.

The Central Railway said that the passengers travelling on E-Pass/PTO will have to carry the required original identity proof. They must also ensure that the E-Pass/PTO has been duly exchanged for the prescribed authority to travel before starting their journey.

Ticket authenticity to be checked by the officials

Central Railway said that special attention would be given to checking the genuineness of tickets, particularly unreserved tickets.

Ticket checking staff will use the TTE App, wherever required, to authenticate and verify tickets.

The drive is aimed at preventing the misuse of reservation facilities, fraudulent use of concessions and passes, and leakage of railway revenue, officials said.

The Central Railway has appealed to passengers to travel with valid tickets and carry the prescribed original identity and eligibility documents, wherever applicable.

The railway passengers have also been asked to cooperate with ticket checking staff during their journeys.

"The railway administration urges Central Railway passengers to travel responsibly and travel with dignity," officials said.
