Traffic Police announced a temporary traffic diversion in the Mahim area due to the ongoing Mumbai road concretisation works, officials said on Friday.
The police said that road excavation and cement concreting work was scheduled to be undertaken in Mahim area.
It said that the 100-metre stretch between Gangavihar Junction and Varadaraj Adya Marg on Mogul Lane is currently under repair. The road is nine metres wide, but excavation and barricading work will take up a major portion of the carriageway, making vehicle movement difficult.
An official traffic police notification said that 4.5 metres of the road will be excavated for cement concreting. In addition, underground infrastructure such as gas pipelines, utility ducts and MTNL cable lines occupies about 2.5 metres near the footpath on the northbound side.
With very limited road space left for vehicles, two-way traffic movement would not be possible and to prevent congestion, danger and inconvenience to the public, a temporary traffic notification has been issued.
The revised traffic arrangement will remain in force from 12.01 am on February 28, 2026 until midnight on March 29, 2026.
Traffic movement on Mogul Lane between Gangavihar Junction and Varadaraj Adya Marg will be restricted during the period.
Alternative Routes: Vehicles travelling from Varadaraj Adya Marg Junction towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg may continue via Mogul Lane to reach their destination.
Motorists near Natural Ice Cream on T.H. Kataria Marg may take a left turn towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg and proceed to their desired destination.
The police have urged motorists to follow the diversion signs and cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure smooth movement during the road work period.
The Khar Subway in Santacruz (East) will remain closed to vehicular traffic during night hours from February 27 to March 1, 2026, an official traffic notification said on Monday.
The Mumbai Traffic Police, in the notification said that the restrictions has been imposed to allow installation of a new height barrier, including erection of pillars and girders at the subway.
The subway will be shut daily from 12 midnight to 5 am between 27/02/2026 and 01/03/2026.
The work falls under the jurisdiction of the Vakola Traffic Division.
Officials said the use of machinery and construction materials is likely to cause traffic obstruction and congestion if vehicles are allowed to pass during the work.
During the closure period, motorists who would normally use Khar Subway have been advised to take alternative routes.
Drivers can use the Milan Subway or the Milan Flyover as diversions.
Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
