Central Railway revises train services after partial restoration of Karjat-Lonavala section, check complete details

Central Railway has announced temporary changes to several long-distance train services after partial restoration of railway lines on the Karjat-Lonavala section.

According to an official statement, the railway team successfully restored the South East Down line and the Mid-line between Karjat and Lonavala on July 14, 2026, allowing several trains to resume normal operations.

However, restoration work on the third line is still underway. Until the completion of the work, Central Railway has decided to cancel, divert, short terminate and short originate several trains.

Multiple trains cancelled temporarily

Central Railway has announced the cancellation of several services between July 18 and July 24.

Some major cancelled trains include:

22157 CSMT-Chennai Express
22158 Chennai-CSMT Express
22732 CSMT-Hyderabad Express
22731 Hyderabad-CSMT Express
22943 Daund-Indore Express
22944 Indore-Daund Express
20496 Hadapsar-Jodhpur Express
20495 Jodhpur-Hadapsar Express

Other services, including Dadar-Sainagar Shirdi Express, Dadar-Satara Express and CSMT-Kolhapur Express, will also remain cancelled on specific dates.

Several trains diverted through alternate routes

To manage operations during the restoration work, Central Railway has diverted multiple trains through alternative routes.

The affected routes include:

Daund-Manmad-Igatpuri-Kalyan
Daund-Manmad-Jalgaon-Paldhi-Surat
Daund Chord Line-Manmad-Bhusaval
Kalyan-Manmad-Daund-Solapur
Surat-Paldhi-Manmad-Daund-Solapur

Trains diverted include services connecting Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Rajkot, Porbandar, Madurai, Vishakhapatnam and other destinations.

Train termination and origin changes

Central Railway has also modified the starting and ending points of some trains.

The changes include:

11140 Hospete-CSMT Express will be short terminated at Pune from July 17 to July 23, 2026.
11030 Kolhapur-CSMT Express will be short terminated at Khadki from July 18 to July 24, 2026.
11029 CSMT-Kolhapur Express will originate from Pune instead of CSMT from July 18 to July 24, 2026.
11139 CSMT-Hospete Express will originate from Khadki from July 18 to July 24, 2026.

Restoration work continues round the clock

Central Railway said its teams are working 24/7 in difficult terrain to clear debris and restore normal train operations on the Lonavala-Karjat section at the earliest.

Passengers have been advised to check updated train information through the NTES app, railway helpline services and official social media updates before travelling.

The railway administration has requested passengers to cooperate during the disruption caused by the natural calamity and ongoing restoration work.
