Mumbai is likely to remain hot on Saturday, October 24, with temperatures forecast to reach around 37 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures hovering near 26 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and surrounding areas, warning of hot and humid conditions in isolated pockets as temperatures continue to remain high across the region.
The weather comes amid an extended spell of above-normal October temperatures across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Residents may experience uncomfortable conditions, particularly during the afternoon, when temperatures are expected to remain high.
Mumbai and its suburbs are expected to experience mainly clear skies on Saturday, with the maximum temperature forecast at around 37 degrees Celsius and the minimum at approximately 26 degrees Celsius.
The combination of high temperatures and coastal humidity could make conditions uncomfortable for people spending extended periods outdoors. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing and limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
Mumbai's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 112 on Saturday morning, according to figures attributed to the Central Pollution Control Board's SAMEER app. Under India's national AQI classification, a reading between 100 and 150 falls in the moderate category.
Air quality, however, varies between neighbourhoods, meaning the citywide figure may not reflect conditions at every monitoring station.
Among the locations listed in the supplied figures, Bandra-Kurla Complex recorded the highest AQI at 155. Mazgaon registered 146, Worli recorded 99, Andheri stood at 138 and Deonar reported 119. Borivali recorded an AQI of 85.
The readings for BKC, Mazgaon, Worli, Andheri and Deonar fall in the moderate category, which covers AQI values between 101 and 200. Borivali's reading falls in the satisfactory category, as per SAMEER app.
Across the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Thane recorded an AQI of 101, while Navi Mumbai registered 111 and Kalyan reported 101. Thane, Kalyan and Navi Mumbai all of them were therefore in the moderate category.
