Mumbai is expected to witness a partly cloudy sky with light to moderate rainfall in the city and suburbs on Sunday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). As per IMD, the island city is likely to receive moderate rain, with some parts likely to expect intense showers during the early hours.
As per BMC, intermittent rain is likely throughout the day, while residents, particularly those in low-lying and coastal areas, have been advised to remain cautious during the afternoon high tide.
The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to be 26 degrees Celsius.
According to the BMC, the first high tide of the day is expected at 2:13 pm, reaching 4.36 metres, while the next high tide will occur at 2:31 am on August 3, with a height of 3.93 metres.
The low tides are expected at 8:19 pm today, measuring 1.14 metres, and at 7:59 am on August 3, measuring 1.23 metres.
Meanwhile, rainfall recorded across Mumbai during the 24-hour period between 8 am on August 1 and 8 am on August 2 remained moderate. The island city received an average rainfall of 7.43 mm, while the eastern suburbs recorded 11.02 mm and the western suburbs received 4.54 mm.
Authorities have advised commuters to check traffic and local train updates before travelling, especially during periods of intense rainfall or around the afternoon high tide, as waterlogging may develop in vulnerable locations.
Mumbai's seven lakes, which supply drinking water to the city, collectively held 12,89,289 million litres of water, or 89.08 per cent of their total live storage capacity, as of 6 am on Sunday, August 2, according to the Hydraulic Engineer's Department at the Bhandup Master Control Centre.
The current stock is slightly lower than the same period last year, when the reservoirs contained 12,87,213 million litres (89.94 per cent). However, it is significantly higher than 2024, when the lakes had 11,64,405 million litres, accounting for 80.45 per cent of the total live storage.
