Mumbai on Monday, June 1, is most likely to experience scattered thunderstorms and cloudy conditions, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather department has forecasted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) across Mumbai and the suburbs.
While the minimum temperature in Mumbai is expected to settle around 27 degrees Celsius, the maximum temperature is likely to remain around 34 degrees Celsius during the day.
As per IMD, partly cloudy conditions are likely to continue till Tuesday with chances of moderation on both days.
While the pre-monsoon showers may bring temporary relief from the heat, humidity levels are expected to stay elevated at around 62 per cent, contributing to a muggy atmosphere across the city.
With the city expected to receive pre-monsoon showers on Monday and Tuesday, the air quality across the suburbs and town also remained in the "good" category on Monday.
Data from the Central Pollution Control Board's Sameer App showed the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) at 50, indicating minimal impact on public health.
Air quality varied across different parts of the city, with most monitoring stations recording air quality in the good to satisfactory range. Bandra Kurla Complex recorded an AQI of 65, Borivali 46, Byculla 66, Kandivali 43, Chembur 43, Ghatkopar 42, and Kherwadi 32.
Among the monitored locations, BKC recorded the highest AQI at 65, placing it in the moderate category, while CSMIA T2 registered the lowest AQI at 26 on Tuesday.
Elsewhere in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), air quality remained satisfactory.
Thane recorded an AQI of 63, while Navi Mumbai registered an AQI of 56, with both cities continuing to maintain satisfactory air quality levels.
Earlier, on May 30, IMD issued alerts for several parts of Maharashtra. As per IMD, some parts of the state are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and light to moderate rainfall over the next few days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD also issued weather warnings for multiple districts across Vidarbha and Marathwada, even as heatwave-like conditions continue in several regions of the state.
