Mumbai to see warm day, temperature likely to hover around 34 degrees Celsius; AQI remains satisfactory

Mumbai city and its suburbs are likely to experience mainly clear skies, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 34 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to the Centre's SAMEER app, Mumbai recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 76 at 10 am, placing it in the ‘satisfactory' category. An AQI value around 81 for pollutants such as CO, NO2, and PM10 also falls within this range, indicating that air quality is generally acceptable, although sensitive individuals may experience minor breathing discomfort.

Air quality levels, however, showed variation across different parts of the city. Sion recorded the highest AQI at 152, followed by Deonar at 112, with both locations falling under the ‘moderate' category, indicating relatively higher pollution levels.

Several other areas across Mumbai reported satisfactory air quality, including Bandra-Kurla Complex (83), Byculla (72), Chakala (78), Colaba (66), Bandra East (72), Kurla (96), Mazgaon (59), and Worli (54), suggesting comparatively better conditions.

Meanwhile, Mulund West (17) and Sewri (48) recorded the lowest AQI levels, placing them in the ‘good' category and indicating cleaner air compared to most other locations.

Overall, while Mumbai's air quality remains largely within the satisfactory range, the variation across regions highlights pockets of higher pollution. Residents, especially those with respiratory issues, are advised to take necessary precautions in areas with elevated AQI levels.

On April 28, 2026, Colaba recorded a minimum temperature of 26.0 degrees Celsius and Santacruz 25.6 degrees Celsius, with no rainfall reported at either station, according to IMD Mumbai.

Delhi records season's first warm night; respite likely with rain forecast

The national capital remained under a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms at isolated places on Tuesday morning even as it recorded its first "warm night" conditions of the year, with minimum temperatures rising sharply above normal levels.

According to the weather data, minimum temperatures at several stations were recorded between 4.6 and 5.4 degrees above normal at multiple stations, meeting the criteria for warm night conditions.

Warm night conditions are declared when the maximum temperature is 40 degrees Celsius or above and the minimum temperature remains 4.5 to 6.4 degrees above normal, the India Meteorological Department said.

The maximum temperature on Tuesday is likely to hover between 39 and 40 degrees Celsius, with a forecast of thunderstorms and rain due to an ongoing cyclonic circulation, weather experts said.

Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality remained in the "moderate" category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 196.
