To mark Navy Day 2025, Vice Admiral Rahul Vilas Gokhale, YSM NM, Chief of Staff of the Western Naval Command, laid a floral wreath at the Gaurav Stambh in the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai on Thursday.
A ceremonial guard was paraded as part of the solemn event, an official statement said.
The Gaurav Stambh stands as a tribute to the Navy's âVictory at Sea' and honours the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of naval personnel who embody the highest traditions of the Indian Navy, it said.
Rear Admiral Ajay Patney, Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard Mumbai, and Rear Admiral Shantanu Jha, NM, Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area, also laid floral wreaths to pay homage, the statement said.
The ceremony reflected the Navy's enduring commitment to service and its continued remembrance of those who have safeguarded the nation's maritime interests, it said.
