A container truck met with a major accident on the newly constructed arm flyover connecting Palm Beach Road in Vashi to the Sanpada highway on Monday, November 2. The accident prompted the authorities to shut the bridge to traffic.

The accident took place at around 5 am near Sector 17 in Vashi when the truck, travelling from the Vashi side, entered the flyover and met with an accident.

Despite heavy vehicles being prohibited from using the newly constructed bridge, the container truck reportedly entered the flyover, resulting in the incident.

No injuries reported

Although no casualties were reported, the truck was severely damaged in the accident. Following the incident, authorities closed the flyover to traffic.

The flyover had been inaugurated just four months ago by Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik. The accident has raised concerns over compliance with traffic restrictions on the newly opened stretch.

Traffic movement on the flyover remains affected following its closure.
