The Vanrai Police have arrested the 14th accused in the high-profile NESCO drug overdose case, taking into custody Nitesh alias 'Nick' Khemlani, the twin brother of the alleged mastermind, Mahesh alias 'Mark' Khemlani.

Nick Khemlani was produced before a local court on Thursday, which remanded him to police custody until July 13 for further investigation.

According to police sources, the arrest follows an investigation into the financial trail linked to the drug overdose case. Investigators allegedly uncovered financial transactions between Nick Khemlani and several of the accused who have already been arrested in the case. Police are probing whether these transactions were connected to the alleged drug network.

Before Nick's arrest, the Vanrai Police had also apprehended another accused, Dipesh Hemwani, in connection with the case. Hemwani is currently lodged in judicial custody.

Vanrai Police files 3,547-page chargesheet in NESCO drug overdose case

The latest arrest comes as investigators continue to widen the probe into the alleged drug supply chain and the financial dealings of those linked to the case.

Meanwhile, the Vanrai Police have already filed a 3,547-page chargesheet against 12 accused in the NESCO drug overdose case. According to officials, the chargesheet contains statements from 109 witnesses, outlining the investigation, evidence collected, and the alleged role of each accused.

Police, while briefing about the investigation, said that the investigation remains ongoing, with officials examining additional financial records and digital evidence to identify others who may have been involved in the alleged conspiracy.

The NESCO drug overdose case, which sparked widespread attention after multiple individuals allegedly consumed narcotic substances at an event, continues to be one of Mumbai Police's most closely monitored investigations. Further arrests have not been ruled out as the probe progresses.
