President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday for a two-day visit to Maharashtra. Murmu was accorded a warm welcome at Lok Bhavan by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat.
Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, Minister Rawal, and Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde, along with senior state officials, were also present to welcome the President.
During her visit to Mumbai, President Murmu will inaugurate a nationwide initiative, "Saving Lives and Building a Healthier Bharat", to mark the 75th anniversary of PD Hinduja Hospital.
The initiative aims to strengthen public health awareness and promote accessible healthcare services across the country.
On Wednesday, the President is scheduled to attend the National Ayurveda Convention at Shegaon in Buldhana district, where discussions will focus on promoting traditional systems of medicine and integrating Ayurveda into mainstream healthcare.
In the evening, President Murmu will participate in a programme organised by the Brahma Kumaris in Nagpur.
Her two-day visit underscores the Centre's emphasis on healthcare advancement and the promotion of India's traditional knowledge systems.
