Railway ticketing operations were affected severely for several hours on Saturday after a technical snag affected Central Railway (CR), Western Railway (WR), Konkan Railway (KRCL) and West Central Railway (WCR).

The problem began at 1 pm and was yet to be corrected at the time of going to print.

"After a technical failure struck the VC FLEX Switch, all Passenger Reservation System (PRS) locations across Mumbai came to a standstill on Saturday afternoon," said an official. Long-distance ticket reservations were hampered, but Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) operations continued, ensuring local train passengers faced no disruption.

Meanwhile, CR has announced a mega block on Sunday on all the three lines in between 9.45 am and 4.05 pm.
