Mumbra-based builder Mohsin Khan sent his goons to beat up the girl’s parents who met the Additional Commisioner of Police, Vikas Patil. The family is now under police protection

A builder, who is accused in a rape case in Mumbra, allegedly threatened the 16-year-old survivor's parents. According to the Mumbra police, the builder's goons attacked the girl's parents and threatened to kill them if they did not withdraw the complaint. The family has received police protection since Friday night.

The accused, identified as Mohsin Khan, is a local builder and resident of Mumbra. In 2011, Khan allegedly raped the teenager after calling her to his office on the pretext of speaking to her about a wiring problem in her house. Later, Khan threatened the survivor on a regular basis but the police failed to take any action against him.

According to the police, Khan sent 10 goons to the survivor's residence on February 9, who beat up the girl's mother with sticks and hurt her on her head. The next day, Khan, along with the goons, went to the girl's residence and threatened her father to withdraw the case. They also beat him up and his left hand was fractured.

The same day, the survivor's parents went to Mumbra police station to register a complaint but the police only registered a non-cognisable offence. Later, her family met ACP Vikas Patil.

Since Friday night, the family is under police protection.

Senior Police Inspector Shrinivas Munde of Mumbra police station said, "We have registered a non-cognisable offence and attached it with the rape case which was registered earlier by the survivor's family."

RB Patil, the Thane session court advocate fighting the case on their behalf, said, "The police should file an FIR against the accused instead of filing a non-cognisable offence. On Monday, we will request the court to cancel the accused's bail and take strict action against him."
