Thane: 10-year-old boy on his way to cricket practice run over by woman driver

The Tarapur Police have registered an FIR in the death of child who was hit by a car on his way to his cricket coaching class.

On Monday evening, around 4.30, the child, Nitanshu Jitendra Bhoir, 10, was on his bicycle inside Taps Colony, on his way to cricket practice. Just before he could step out of the colony, a car driven by Shubhra Virendra Mishra, 38, hit him from behind. Mishra, whose husband is a scientist, was in her jeep and was leaving for some work.

Nitanshu's parents were informed and he was taken to hospital immediately, but was declared dead there.
Acting on the matter, the Tarapur police have registered a case against Mishra under section 304A, 279 and 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act. Mishra was taken into police custody on Tuesday morning.

According to Taps Colony sources, Mishra has knocked people down with her car several times before.

Speaking on the matter, police sources said, "Mishra's earlier records will get checked to see whether she has similar cases against her."

Police sources said the parents of the boy were devastated and have demanded a fair investigation.
