Fire in Thane (West) was extinguished within two hours by the autorities
A fire broke out during the late hours of Sunday in an open shed at Balkum in Thane (West). The officials from the Disaster Management Room confirmed that the blaze was successfully extinguished within two hours, with no injuries reported.
According to information received at around 10:50 pm on February 15, the blaze occurred next to Ghazal Hotel in New Mahalaxmi Nagar, Balkum Pada No. 1, Balkum, Thane (W).
Officials while briefing about the fire incident said that mobile tower cables, WiFi cables and a fibre chamber belonging to M.S. Magnific Infra Pvt. Ltd., owned by Amit Singh, were stored in a temporary paper shed at the location. The stored materials caught fire, triggering an emergency response.
Upon receiving the alert, two fire engines and one jumbo water tanker were rushed to the site. Personnel from the Disaster Management Centre arrived with a pickup vehicle, while teams from Kapurbawdi Police Station and Mahavitaran also rushed to the spot to assist in managing the situation and ensuring safety measures.
However, within just two hours, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, and the fire was completely extinguished by approximately 12:25 am on February 16.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The situation is currently under control, and further investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
In a different scenario on Sunday, five people were injured and 40 two-wheelers were destroyed after a massive fire broke out at a building in the Dombivli area of Thane district in Maharashtra, officials said, reported the PTI.
According to civic officials, a fire broke out in the basement of a residential building in Thane district in the early hours of Sunday. The incident took place in the Sagaon area of Dombivli town at around 4 am.
The blaze started in the basement parking area of the building.
Namdeo Chowdhary, chief fire officer of the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, said a woman suffered burn injuries in the fire. A man was injured after he jumped from a first-floor flat to escape the flames. Three other residents sustained minor injuries. All five injured persons lived on the first floor of the building. They have been admitted to a nearby hospital and are receiving treatment, as per the PTI.
Officials said at least 40 two-wheelers parked in the basement were gutted in the blaze. The fire caused heavy damage to the parking area.
Two fire engines were sent to the spot for firefighting operations shortly after the fire was reported. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control within an hour.
