A jungle cat kitten found abandoned in Thane district will now be hand-raised under human care after repeated attempts to reunite it with its mother failed. Pawan Sharma, Honorary Wildlife Warden of Mumbai and president of NGO RAWW, spoke to Sunday mid-day.

"Officials and villagers attempted to reunite the kitten with its mother for two consecutive nights. We placed the kitten in a container at night and installed came. However, the camera traps did not record any signs of the mother," Sharma said.

The kitten is now being hand-raised and rehabilitated at RAWW's wildlife facility. "It will be gradually rewilded and later released back into its natural habitat," Sharma added.
