The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) on Tuesday announced a 24-hour water cut in several parts of the city due to urgent maintenance and pipeline upgradation works under the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) water supply scheme.
According to the official statement from TMC, the water cut will begin at 12 pm on Thursday, April 23, and will continue till 12 pm on Friday, April 24.
Officials further asserted that the disruption is due to repair and upgrade work on the Barvi Gravity Pipelines at the reservoir within the Jambhul Water Treatment Plant.
The affected areas include Mumbra, Diva, Kalwa, parts of Majiwada-Manpada, and select pockets under the Wagle ward committee.
While issuing the official statement, the Thane Municipal Corporation also highlighted that the water supply shutdown will be observed in Diva, most parts of Mumbra (excluding sections of ward numbers 26 and 31), Kalwa, and the Kolshet Khalcha Gaon area in Wagle.
Officials stated that the water supply in these regions is routed through the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, and the scheduled work is essential to ensure long-term reliability of the system, causing a water cut for a few days.
TMC has also cautioned the residents that even after supply resumes, water will be available at low pressure for the following one to two days. The civic body further appealed to the citizens to store adequate water in advance and use it sparingly during the disruption period.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a scheduled disruption in water supply across several parts of South Mumbai to facilitate infrastructure work aimed at improving distribution efficiency.
According to the BMC, the civic body will undertake the installation of two 1500 mm diameter butterfly valves on a key pipeline connected to the Bhandarwada Hill Reservoir tunnel. The work will be carried out at Shivdi along Haji Bunder Road in F South Ward.
The operation is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, and continue until 4:00 AM on Thursday, April 23, spanning approximately 18 hours.
