The Thane City Traffic Police on Tuesday issued a detailed traffic regulation notification imposing major diversions and entry restrictions across Kalyan, Dombivali, Shilphata, Khoni Naka, and surrounding areas due to ongoing construction work under the Dedicated Freight Corridor Project.
According to the notification issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Shirsat, the work is being carried out under the JNPT-Vaitarana Section of the Western Corridor Phase-2 by the Express Freight Railway Consortium Limited.
The project involves the construction of an elevated corridor and bridge work near Nilje on the Kalyan-Shil Road stretch.
Traffic restrictions will remain in force from June 1 to October 31.
Police said all types of vehicles travelling from Kalyan towards Shilphata via Nilje will face entry restrictions on the Kalyan-Shil Road.
Similarly, restrictions have also been imposed on routes connecting Lodha Palava, Kasa Bela, Lodha Heaven, Exceria Mall, Kalyan Phata, Khoni Naka, and Katai Chowk.
Heavy, light, and goods vehicles travelling between Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Ambernath, Badlapur, and Dombivali will be diverted through alternate roads, including:
Traffic police have also designated alternate routes for cars, motorcycles, and scooters travelling between Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, and Dombivli.
Motorists travelling towards Kalyan from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai via Kalyan Phata have been advised to use routes through Shilphata, Diva, Aagasan Phatak, Diva Station Road, and Manpada.
Vehicles travelling towards Thane and Mumbai from Kalyan and Dombivali have been asked to use Mankoli Naka, Konegaon and Nashik-Mumbai Highway routes.
The traffic restrictions will not apply to police vehicles, ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and other emergency services.
The traffic police appealed to commuters to follow diversion routes and cooperate with authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the construction period.
