Two engineers arrested in building collapse case

The building collapsed last week, claiming 74 lives and injuring 62 people.

The arrested officials have been identified as Subhash Rawal, deputy engineer, and Ramesh Inamdar, executive engineer. The number of arrests in the case has now risen to 13.

"Had the two not taken the bribe and demolished the building in time, the tragedy could have been averted. They did go to demolish the structure but returned without taking any action after they were given money," said sources in the Thane Crime Branch.

The accused will be produced in court today. The Crime Branch has already arrested one local journalist who acted as a middleman between the builders and the TMC officials. Sources said cops are looking for more people who could be involved in a similar manner.
