A few activists allegedly belonging to the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena pelted stones on the windows of a container cabin near the proposed site of Mumbai Metro III car depot at Aarey Milk Colony on Tuesday.

Police officials requesting anonymity told mid-day that some people with MNS flags in their hand pelted stones on the windows of a temporary office behind the Metro car depot site.

Some people with MNS flags pelt stones at the site of the proposed Mumbai Metro III car depot.

"Near the Metro rail car depot in Aarey some men came in the evening and trespassed after which they damaged two glass windows of the container at the site and allegedly manhandled the security guard. The guard has been sent for medical treatment." a police official said.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray while speaking during the 9th Foundation Day Program of the party on Monday evening had expressed his party's opposition to the project that he said "will displace Marathi people staying in Girgaum area" and also require cutting of trees in Aarey Milk Colony.

Thackeray had hinted at his opposition to the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro line III project, which would force the MMRC to resettle and rehabilitate Marathi people staying in Girgaum area and cut 2298 trees for constructing car depot in Aarey Milk Colony area. "My party won't allow any project that will displace Marathi people and require tree cutting in such a large number in AMC. Why doesn't the government plan an alignment passing through Malabar Hill area, but it will not do so as they want the Marathi people to go out of Mumbai."

Taking potshots at the BMC's DP plan Thackeray had said, "The new DP is a well designed plan to throw Marathi-speaking people out of Mumbai and this plan has been prepared to benefit a few bussinessmen. The DP will give higher FSI to builders so that they can construct taller buildings but this will result in the displacement of Marathi-speaking people." Thackeray said

Thackeray also pointed out that the government wants to sell off the remaining land from Aarey to few-handful of people and so new projects are being planned.
