A 46-year-old woman was rescued after she reportedly jumped into the sea near the Marine Drive promenade in south Mumbai on May 31, according to Mumbai Police.
The incident took place at around 11.25 am, police said in a post on X.
Police Constable Jayesh Mali immediately responded after noticing the woman in the water. With assistance from nearby citizens, he entered the sea and successfully brought her back to shore.
The timely intervention helped prevent a potentially fatal outcome, police said.
Following the rescue, Assistant Police Inspector Someshwar Chougule and Police Sub-Inspector Gagre coordinated emergency medical assistance for the woman.
She was subsequently shifted to G.T. Hospital for treatment.
Mumbai Police said the woman's family members were informed about the incident. She is currently undergoing treatment and her condition is reported to be stable.
In another case, the body of a man who drowned in Ilthanpada dam at Digha in Navi Mumbai was recovered on May 29 following a multi-agency search and rescue operation, a senior civic official said.
The Airoli fire station had received an alert about a youth drowning in the dam on Thursday, following which a search and rescue operation was started, Sachin Kadam, Navi Mumbai Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) chief, told PTI.
The search operation, which was suspended on Thursday night due to poor visibility, resumed on May 29 morning and led to the retrieval of the body from the dam waters at around 3:20pm, he added.
The on-site deployment included one rescue vehicle each from Airoli Fire Brigade and MIDC Fire Brigade, and a team from the Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF), Kadam stated.
Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified man was found in a roadside drain in Maharashtra's Thane city, a civic official said on May 30.

"With the assistance of police personnel and fire brigade staff, the body was safely removed from the drain and handed over to the Mumbra police for further action," said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation.
The deceased appeared to be in his mid-30s, an official said, adding the police have registered a case of accidental death.
