The cobra sat hidden behind utensils in the kitchen
A venomous spectacled cobra was rescued from a Marve resident's kitchen on January 14.
SARRP-INDIA received a distress call from Malvani in the Marve cross road area. Tanmay Joshi, a member of the rescue team reached the spot and spotted the reptile hiding behind utensils in the kitchen.
Joshi rescued the snake and bagged it carefully. The snake will be released back into the wild as per Forest Dept. SOP.
Last week, a Checkered keelback snake was found in an unusual situation at Kandivali (east) as someone had played a cruel trick on the reptile by covering its head with a used condom.
The snake was disoriented when it was seen near Green Meadows housing society at around 8.30am. Snake rescuer Mita Malvankar quickly caught hold of the 2.5 feet long snake and removed the condom, as the reptile was unable to breathe.
Snakes are protected species under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, therefore, their preservation and safety have always been of importance to wildlife activists and authorities.
