The accused is in police custody. The cops must now ensure that he does no harm to the survivor if released on bail again. This will create the confidence that if one approaches the police, one's tormentor will face the full force of the law and the complainant will not be harassed for attempting to obtain justice.

The prime reason why people do not complain about issues they are dealing with is fear of reprisal on the part of those they have complained against. They are also told by others that some action may be taken after approaching the authorities, but long-term repercussions may ensue, resulting in them being harmed, and that is why it is better to suffer in silence.

It is vital that we never dismiss stalking as a trifle or brush it off. Stalking for any reason may escalate and lead to very dangerous consequences for those targeted.

If we are going to have the courage to complain to law enforcers, or encourage others to approach them to file a complaint, there has to be an atmosphere of confidence and faith that no harm can come to the complainant. The system must work that way so that people shed fear and justice is ensured. Let us work towards creating that kind of atmosphere.
