The officials said that Central Railway services between CSMT-Thane and CSMT-Mankhurd remained suspended as of 5:30 pm on Tuesday due to heavy waterlogging caused by the overflowing Mithi river
Officials reported that the Mithi River's water level reached 3.6 metres, which is about 1 metre above the danger mark
As a result, tracks at four major stations -- Kurla, Sion, Mankhurd, and Govandi -- were submerged under 16 to 17 inches of water
The railway officials explained that running trains is not possible under such water levels, as it poses safety risks to both passengers and railway staff
They said that the operations will resume only after water recedes to safe levels
