While pursuing his law studies in London between 1906 and 1910, Savarkar played a significant role in training a group of Indian revolutionaries in techniques of sabotage and assassination
Savarkar lived in Ratnagiri, India, until 1937, when he joined the Hindu Mahasabha, an organisation that strongly advocated for Hindu religious and cultural dominance over Indian Muslims
Following the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948 by a Hindu nationalist associated with the Mahasabha, Savarkar was implicated in the conspiracy. However, he was acquitted during his trial due to insufficient evidence
