The incident was reported at around 11 am in the Ekta Nagar area near Hancock Bridge

According to officials, the fire was limited to around seven to eight hutments comprising ground-plus-partly one and two-storey structures

Quick action by the fire brigade helped contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further, officials said

The Mumbai Fire Brigade declared it a Level I (minor) fire at approximately 11:03 am, indicating that the situation was under control but required immediate response

Multiple agencies were mobilised to handle the situation, including the officials from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai Fire Brigade, local police, BEST authorities, 108 ambulance services and ward staff

The blaze was extinguished at 1 pm.
